If you can't say something nice...

Thanks to those of you who have sent me statements of support over the years, especially over the last year as my column has been in flux at the Tribune.

You can add your endorsement here.

Thanks! Nathan

Bierma's column is one that I regularly recommend, alongside those of Barbara Wallraff and Jan Freeman, because it bridges the gap between the professional linguist and the non-expert. His columns are readable, comprehensible, and not overly didactic.

Book coming: 'The Eclectic Encyclopedia of English'

I'm excited to announce that the first book collection of my "On Language" columns is on the way!

The book, tentatively titled The Eclectic Encyclopedia of English, is in the final stages and should be out either late this year or early next. Revisit some of your favorite columns, and catch up on ones you missed, from almost five years of "On Language."

For more information, go to www.nbierma.com/eclectic.

Thanks for reading!
